- New blower motor in air handler won't start

Post by Chrisveach1 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 3:17 pm

Pulled the door switch/ tformer dual connection black wire and tested. Got 120v. Tested black wire coming in from line got 120 volts. Tested blue wire from secondary and got 26 volts.
Everything seems to be working. Can I jump one of the motor wires directly from a known 120 supply?

Tested black wire coming from board and got 120 volts at spade connection(original wire side). But that 120 is either not continuing on to motor through new wire going into new motor housing, or the wiring may be wrong. Will the multimeter act as a jumper or do I need to try and make one up?

It appears you have power from the board plug to the motor. So either your spade connections are not good or you have the motor incorrectly wired or the motor is bad.

Hey Freon, checked the spade connection to main power, and the one that had been installed(not by me) seemed loose. Stripped it, put on a new one and presto! Motor started up quickly and quietly. Put heat back on and it is working better than ever. No loud buzz at start up. Thank you so much for your help. It was the long road to China, but I learned a lot and couldn't have done it w/I your help. You saved us 1000 bucks at least. You are the best!
