Evaporator Coil Leaking Water?

Postby jellydoboy » Tue Jul 05, 2016 10:05 pm

Had a new furnace, A/C, and evaporator installed last winter. This is my first summer running the A/C, and there appears to be water leaking out from the area of the evaporator coil.

Basically there's a lot of condensation building up on the coil that comes out of the unit. The area behind that also gets large water droplets that form and drips down the side onto the furnace.

Not a lot of water but enough to require putting a rag underneath to absorb the water. I never had this problem when running my old A/C unit.

Is this an issue?

Call the installer back. Without pictures to see exactly how the evap. coil is installed, it's nearly impossible to help you. If it's an "A" coil then the installer needs to make sure it's perfectly plumb. The furnace plenum should be insulated so there is no condensation on any part of the furnace.
