Hello Im a licensed mechanic working for a private school in Connecticut. We recently purchased a two story house hot water heat single zone. The tenet claims that the second floor over heats weve closed all the radiator dampers on the second floor. Im surprised there still having a problem any thoughts?
The simple answer is hot air rises. All the lower floor heat will tend to rise to the upper floors. Check how well you have closed the radiator (baseboard?) dampers. Is this a 2 zone system, one upstairs, one downstairs? Are there any flow control valves? You need to understand how your system works to find the correct solution.
